ONE SUMMER DAY IN 2007, 5 GUYS WALK INTO A GARAGE…
Joe’s
Garage (if you can believe that), planning to just jam on some Thin Lizzy
because they all really loved the band.
The lineup that day was singer Carlos Petrus, bassist Alan McCleaf,
drummer Joe Jones, and guitarists Tommy Pearson and Randy Stewart.
After running through some classic Lizzy material, the jam slid sideways
and crashed into all kinds of other stuff by other bands.
Everything sounded great and you could almost hear the wheels turning in
all of their heads at the same time.
The next thing you know, ROCKSLIDE was born!
Songs were learned, shows were played, and a good time was had by all,
until June ’08 when Carlos had to leave the band.
Enter
Ricky Benson to become the new lead singer of ROCKSLIDE!
More shows were played and more fun was had, but after just a few gigs
with the new lineup Randy left the band.
The band soldiered on playing one gig with a sit-in guitarist (Thanks,
Jason!) and one as a 4-piece.
Unfortunately Ricky’s dreaded “day job” became too demanding and he
was unable to continue, leaving some big shoes to fill.
The
band tried out quite a few singers but no one quite fit the bill.
Then a funny thing happened.
During auditions, one potential singer brought out Greg Schweitzer to
help out on guitar. Greg’s
style and sound fit in so well he was asked to join the band.
Back to the 2-guitar lineup, the guys figured they had all been singing
backup vocals and harmonies forever so why not keep the vocals in-house?
Up
to speed as a 4-piece sharing the vocals, the band made their RE-debut with Greg
in the Fall of ’09.
Around the same time, they got a call from former singer Ricky Benson.
The pressure of his day job had eased up and he was looking for something
to do musically again.
It was a no brainer.
He returned to ROCKSLIDE, now back to a 5-piece with one of the best
singers you could ask for, powerhouse drums, solid melodic bass, and 2 lead
guitar players that know how to play together, not against each other.
ROCKSLIDE
plays all your favorite classic rock bands, but not just the same ol’ same ol’.
You’ll hear deeper cuts, long-forgotten AM radio nuggets,
one-hit-wonders, and maybe even a little R&B or country.
What you won’t hear is whatever everybody else is doing.
This band learns new material constantly so every show is fresh and full
of surprises, for them and for you.
SEE
YA AT THE SHOW!!!
